The move is part of Dubai Airports’ broader initiative to enhance the guest experience by focusing on operational excellence and seamless travel.

The introduction of colour-coded car parks is expected to significantly ease navigation for motorists, particularly given the high volume of traffic at DXB’s parking lots.

Dubai International Airport, which serves hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists daily, operates three terminals with varying parking charges.

According to the airport’s website, parking fees at Terminal 1 range from Dh15 per hour to Dh125 per day. Terminal 2 charges between Dh5 and Dh125 per day, and Terminal 3 has similar rates. Additional charges of Dh100 apply for each extra day of parking.

In addition to the colour-coded parking initiative, passengers using flydubai can benefit from pre-booking parking spaces at Terminal 2. This service allows travelers to secure a parking spot for as low as Dh50 per day.

By scanning a QR code provided on their booking confirmation, passengers can access their pre-booked parking area, either Arrival A1 or Departure A2, thereby avoiding the hassle of finding a spot upon arrival.

The announcement comes amidst impressive passenger traffic figures for the first half of 2024. Dubai International reported a record 44.9 million passengers during this period, marking an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Flight movements also saw a notable rise, with a total of 216,000, representing a 7.2% year-on-year increase. January was the busiest month, handling 7.9 million guests.

To manage this substantial increase in traffic and ensure a smooth experience for passengers, DXB has leveraged its real-time monitoring system. This technology has proven effective in preventing queues and minimizing wait times across various touchpoints in the airport.

During the first six months of 2024, 98% of passengers reported waiting less than 10 minutes at departure passport control and under 15 minutes at arrival passport control. Additionally, 95% of travelers at departure security screening experienced wait times of less than three minutes.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience, DXB will also introduce a new signature aroma in Al Majlis, the airport’s VIP facility. This addition aims to create a more welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for distinguished guests.

Dubai Airports’ latest initiatives reflect its commitment to maintaining high standards of passenger service and operational efficiency, ensuring that Dubai International remains a leading global travel hub.
