Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed preventive maintenance on 14 major roads and 9 key intersections across the city in the third quarter of 2024.
These maintenance activities, which aimed at improving road safety and infrastructure longevity, were carried out in various residential and commercial areas in alignment with Dubai’s continuous urban development.
The RTA’s preventive maintenance initiative targeted a wide range of road types, including highways, freeways, arterial roads, and internal roads, across six residential neighborhoods and one commercial area.
Among the key roads that underwent maintenance were the Dubai-Al Ain Road, Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road, Ras Al Khor Road, and Al Rebat Street, among others.
The efforts were part of RTA’s broader plan to maintain and upgrade the city’s road network to support its growing population and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, explained that these maintenance efforts were crucial in sustaining the city’s infrastructure.
“RTA prioritises the sustainability of Dubai’s infrastructure and the safety of all road users, which remains our top commitment. As part of these efforts, preventive maintenance included renewing pavement layers based on road conditions, repairing damage caused by natural factors, and repaving damaged asphalt and tile sections in affected areas,” he said.
The maintenance works were carried out using advanced technologies that ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
Al Banna highlighted that the RTA uses smart technologies to monitor the operational condition of roads, predict their lifespan, and determine necessary actions for their upkeep.
“This enables us to predict the lifespan of roads and take necessary actions to maintain operational efficiency and structural integrity throughout their service life,” he noted.
In addition to ensuring road durability, the maintenance efforts also aimed at maintaining smooth traffic flow and minimizing congestion. The RTA adhered to the highest standards of safety during the maintenance works, ensuring that traffic disruptions were minimized as much as possible.
These works were carried out with careful planning, ensuring that the city’s traffic systems remained as efficient and safe as possible during the maintenance process.
The RTA’s preventive maintenance program is a key element of Dubai’s vision to create a sustainable and safe transportation network.
The authority’s commitment to continually improving road conditions and using the latest technology for monitoring and repairs is a testament to Dubai’s forward-thinking approach to urban infrastructure.
By focusing on the quality of its roads and intersections, the RTA ensures that Dubai’s transportation system can handle the demands of its growing population, while simultaneously contributing to the city’s ambitious economic and social goals.
With these efforts, RTA is not only improving the infrastructure but also enhancing the overall experience for road users in the city.
