Dominica’s PM Skerrit praises Indian PM Narendra Modi’s leadership at India-CARICOM Summit

Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica praised Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, at the second India-CARRICOM Summit.

Georgetown, Guyana: Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica praised Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, at the second India-CARRICOM Summit for helping small island nations during times of need. He also expressed gratitude to PM Modi for assisting Dominica and other Caribbean nations to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

While addressing the INDIA-CARRICOM summit, PM Skerrit began his speech by welcoming Indian Prime Minister to summit. He said it is great pleasure for all of us to have you on the Caribbean land and to honour you with highest award of Dominica namely “The Dominica Award of Honour.”

It is to be noted that, Dominica has bestowed Indian PM Narendra Modi with its highest honour, The Dominica Award of Honour to express their gratitude to India and its leadership for helping them in time of dire need and save their lives. The award was presented to PM Modi by Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton, at the India-CARIOM Summit.

According to the Dominican PM this award to PM Modi is an effort to recognize the great contributions of great leader of India towards Humanity.

PM Skerrit specifically mentioned that, “The people of Commonwealth of Dominica will remain indebted to India for extending generous help to Dominica in time of Corona. The donation of 70,000 vaccines of AstraZeneca was like a lifeline for Dominica.”

PM Skerrit further added, the humanitarian gesture of Indian government under visionary leadership of Indian PM Modi once again proved that true leadership knows no boundary.

Moreover, the crucial help from India in form of AstraZeneca laid strong foundation of global partnership with special focus on South-South partnership, underlined PM Skerrit.

At the same time Dominican leader highlighted the development journey of India under PM Narendra Modi. He said the achievement of India in the fields of information technology, healthcare sector as well as in infrastructure are examples of how a visionary leader like PM Modi can lead any nation to new heights.

PM Skerrit ended his address by expressing gratitude to India and PM Modi on behalf of all citizens of the country. He said honouring Indian Prime Minster with highest award of Dominica is message for world how Indian and Dominica are united with the shared values.

Notably, the CARICOM is umbrella body of 21 countries, which was established in 1973. The main objective of body is to make collective efforts in the direction of economic development, foreign policy, human and social development of small island nations.
