Through regular patrols, the mounted police have not only enforced traffic laws but also provided security for sporting events, overseeing 38 matches this year.

These patrols offer a unique advantage, with their ability to navigate narrow areas inaccessible to regular vehicles.

A top official confirmed that the mounted police are instrumental in reducing crime, noting their capacity to effectively apprehend suspects and wanted individuals.

Major General Dr. Expert Mohammed Issa Al Adhab, Director of the mounted police station, emphasized the importance of their operations in ensuring the safety and security of Dubai’s residents and visitors.

“With 100% coverage of the emirate through four strategically distributed points of presence, the mounted police are crucial in protecting various sectors,” said Al Adhab. The patrols also focus on protecting sports facilities, enhancing public security at various events.

The Dubai mounted police have expanded their training programs significantly in 2024, reflecting a clear commitment to excellence. A remarkable 2,121 knights were trained and qualified for various races, a dramatic increase compared to 951 knights in 2023.

This growth signals the department’s dedication to developing the skills and expertise of its officers and enhancing their ability to respond to a wide array of challenges.

Reflecting on the success of past operations, Al Adhab pointed out the mounted police’s achievements in apprehending wanted individuals. In 2022, the department was responsible for arresting 71 individuals, issuing 352 fines, and seizing 915 vehicles.

Notably, two policemen on horseback played a crucial role in dismantling a gang of thieves. They were patrolling near the Rashidiya Police station when they spotted a suspicious vehicle, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of burglary tools, vehicle registration plates, and 29 bottles of alcoholic beverages.

In addition to their core law enforcement duties, the Dubai mounted police have made substantial contributions to community service. Al Adhab highlighted several therapeutic programs aimed at benefiting the community.

The “Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy” program supported 36 participants in 2024, while “Therapeutic Training for People of Determination,” a joint initiative with the Ministry of Community Development, served 126 beneficiaries.

These programs provide therapeutic benefits for those in need and help integrate mounted police into community outreach efforts.

Furthermore, the mounted police station is exploring new technologies to enhance its operations. Al Adhab shared that the station is developing a smart stable project designed to improve the management of stables, horse care, and related activities.

The integration of artificial intelligence for predicting diseases and injuries in horses is also in the pipeline, reflecting the department’s forward-thinking approach.

A virtual training center is also being considered to facilitate ongoing education and skills development for mounted officers.

In conclusion, the Dubai mounted police station’s achievements in 2024 highlight its integral role in maintaining safety and security while also making valuable contributions to the community.

With a focus on innovation, training, and community service, the mounted police continue to set high standards in public service and law enforcement.
