Rocket Hits Civilian Vehicle in Abu Dhabi, Palestinian Resident Killed

Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed a rocket struck a civilian vehicle in Al Bahia, killing a Palestinian resident. The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions as UAE air defence systems intercept hundreds of missiles and drones launched from Iran

Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed that a rocket struck a civilian vehicle in the Al Bahia area, killing one person of Palestinian nationality in the latest incident linked to rising regional tensions.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office said competent authorities responded immediately after the rocket impact was reported. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where the vehicle had been struck.

Officials confirmed that the victim died as a result of the attack. No further casualties were reported, and authorities did not immediately provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities urged residents to rely only on official information channels and warned against spreading rumours or unverified reports, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public calm during the ongoing security situation.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions following a series of missile and drone launches attributed to Iran targeting several locations across the region.

According to official figures released by UAE authorities, the country’s air defence systems have intercepted hundreds of incoming threats since the beginning of the current escalation.

Since the onset of what officials described as “Iranian aggression,” the United Arab Emirates has intercepted 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and approximately 1,600 unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran. The latest recorded interceptions were reported on March 14.

Despite the scale of the attacks,  authorities UAE say their defence systems have successfully neutralized the vast majority of threats before they could reach populated areas.

Earlier this month, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan addressed residents in a message following the attacks, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation while pledging the government’s commitment to national defence.

“Pardon us if we did not meet expectations, but we are in a time of war,” Sheikh Mohamed said. “I promise you that we will fulfil our responsibility to defend you, our people and our families.”

The remarks were delivered during a visit to injured victims receiving treatment at a hospital following earlier attacks. Witnesses described a quiet and emotional moment as the president met with the wounded and their families.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed was seen holding the hands of injured residents and speaking with them and their relatives, offering reassurance and support.

The UAE Ministry of Defence reiterated that the country remains fully prepared to respond to any threats against its territory. Officials stressed that security forces and defence systems remain on high alert to protect the country and its citizens.

In a statement, the ministry said it would respond decisively to any attempts to undermine the country’s security, sovereignty or stability.

“The Armed Forces are fully prepared to confront any threats and will decisively counter any attempt to compromise the security of the state,” the statement said.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as tensions across the region remain high. Security officials have also called on residents to stay informed through official channels while emergency and defence services maintain readiness to respond to further incidents.
