Dubai Police Distribute Over 71,000 Iftar Meals to Drivers in ‘Ramadan Without Accidents’ Initiative

With the distribution of approximately 10,000 meals daily at high-traffic intersections, the initiative has directly reached around 71,850 individuals within the span of the first week of Ramadan alone

Dubai Police have launched the “Ramadan Without Accidents” initiative to ensure safer roads during the holy month of Ramadan. In the first week alone, they distributed over 71,850 fast-breaking or iftar meals to car drivers.

The initiative aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents before iftar time, a period notorious for heightened risks due to rushed driving behaviours.

Under the leadership of Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, this effort has seen collaboration with various organizations, including the Department of Traffic Awareness, the General Department for Human Rights, Al Khawaneej Police Station, the Emirates Red Crescent, Dubai Charity Association, Dubai Customs, Dubai Digital Authority, Med7 Pharmacy, Life Pharmacy, and Talabat.

With the distribution of approximately 10,000 meals daily at high-traffic intersections, the initiative has directly reached around 71,850 individuals within the span of the first week of Ramadan alone.

By strategically choosing intersections with high traffic density, authorities aim to target areas where the risk of accidents is heightened due to rushed driving behaviours as motorists hurry home for iftar.

Speaking on the initiative’s importance, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in ensuring road safety during Ramadan.

He highlighted the role of partnerships with various organizations in reaching out to drivers and promoting responsible driving behaviours.

“The ‘Ramadan Without Accidents’ initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users during this holy month.

By distributing iftar meals at high-traffic intersections, we aim to provide nourishment to drivers and raise awareness about the importance of safe driving practices,” stated Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei.

The initiative’s focus on preemptive measures to reduce accidents before iftar time aligns with Dubai Police’s broader efforts to enhance road safety and minimize traffic-related incidents.

By addressing the root causes of accidents during Ramadan, authorities seek to create a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians alike.

In addition to distributing iftar meals, Dubai Police have been actively engaged in conducting awareness campaigns and implementing stricter enforcement measures to curb reckless driving behaviours.

Through a multi-faceted approach combining education, outreach, and enforcement, the aim is to instil a culture of responsible driving and mutual respect among road users.

As Ramadan progresses, Dubai Police remain committed to upholding the principles of safety and community well-being.

The “Ramadan Without Accidents” initiative stands as a testament to the proactive measures undertaken by authorities to ensure a harmonious and accident-free Ramadan for all residents and visitors in the emirate.

With continued collaboration and support from various stakeholders, Dubai Police reaffirm their dedication to fostering a culture of road safety and responsible driving, not only during Ramadan but throughout the year.
