Cairo, Egypt: The Ministry of Environment reviewed the Egyptian experience in protecting migratory birds to promote environmental tourism, according to the latest update by the Ministry.
Dr Osama Al-Jabali, director of the Hawama Migrating Birds Project, confirmed to the Ministry of Environment that birdwatching tourism is one of the global environmental tourism styles, and Egypt is working to circulate birdwatching and surveillance tourism in the tourism sector in Egypt, noting that Egypt’s geographical location is one of the most important bird crossing areas in the Hawama World-class, birds also play a huge role in keeping the ecosystem in balance.
This came during a presentation presented by Dr Osama Al-Jabali, the director of the Hawama Migrating Birds Project of the Ministry of Environment, during which he reviewed the efforts of the Egyptian state to protect migrating birds of the Hawama to promote environmental tourism, during one of the sessions of the regional workshop on environmental tourism in Jordan, in the framework of the visit of a high-level Egyptian delegation led by Dr Yasmin Faoud, the Minister of the Environment’s intention to promote the Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation in the field of environmental tourism and activate the executive program for cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the field of environment protection (2025-2023).
The Egyptian state, in the field of building national capacity to develop birdwatching tourism, has prepared a guide for training tour guides, prepared a guide for best practices for eco-friendly hotels and migratory birds, also prepared a training program through which 120 tour guides well trained in bird watching, in addition, 111 eco-tour guides have obtained environmental guidance licenses, implemented a hotel training program, including the Jazz Hotel Group on best practices for hotels to be bird-friendly, in addition to field visits and cooperating with tourism companies to include bird watching programs in their travel plan.
The mountaineers reviewed birdwatching tourism in Sharm El-Sheikh, which is one of the most important bird crossing areas worldwide, referring to one of its success stories, which is the Oxidation Lakes Region in Sharm el-Sheikh which has become one of the main ecological tourist attractions in Sharm El Sheikh, which has witnessed unprecedented development during the period The past to witness Egypt’s efforts to protect migratory birds during its annual trip worldwide, and one of the success stories is to include the site as one of the tourist sanctuaries for closely monitoring and monitoring migratory birds.
Al-Jabali pointed out the inclusion of bird-watching activity on the agenda of ECO-Egypt environmental tourism activities, also referring to the protocol of cooperation between the Hawama Migrant Bird Protection Project and Trafco Tourism Company to promote and sustain bird-watching activity, where environmental tourism activities include the beginning of bird watching activity in Sharm El-Sheikh, and integrating birdwatching trips in Programs of the company.
It is mentioned that the Ministry of the Environment Migrating Hawk Protection Project is funded by the World Environment Facility and implemented by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Authority in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and the World Bird Protection Council, in cooperation with national partners, such as the Egyptian Society for Nature Protection.
