Motorists are strongly advised to drive with caution as the foggy conditions are expected to persist until 8:30 AM.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of reducing speed, maintaining safe distances, and utilizing appropriate vehicle lighting to safely navigate low-visibility conditions.

Driving Safety Measures in Effect

In both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, local authorities have activated several safety measures to mitigate the risks associated with the fog. Drivers are urged to slow down, use fog lights, and maintain a considerable distance between vehicles.

The speed reduction system has been triggered on several roads in Abu Dhabi, limiting speeds to 80 km/h to enhance safety.

The NCM has issued a specific warning stating, “Fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility may drop even further at times over some coastal and internal areas until 8:30 AM on Thursday.”

This announcement highlights the critical need for heightened vigilance among drivers during these foggy conditions.

Tips for Safe Driving in Fog

For those navigating the highways during these conditions, the following tips are recommended to ensure safety:

  1. Maintain Adequate Distance: Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the one ahead to allow ample stopping time.
  2. Adjust Speed: Drive at a speed that allows you to stop within the visible distance, reducing the risk of collisions.
  3. Focus on Driving: Avoid distractions such as mobile phones or conversations with passengers. Concentrate fully on the road.
  4. Use Appropriate Lights: Turn on low-beam headlights and fog lights to improve visibility without causing glare. Avoid using hazard lights while driving.
  5. Consider Vulnerable Road Users: Be mindful of two-wheeler drivers, bicycle riders, and pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in low-visibility conditions.
  6. Stay in Your Lane: Avoid overtaking other vehicles and stick to your lane.
  7. Check Wipers: Ensure that your windshield and rear window wipers are functioning correctly to maintain clear visibility.

Weather Forecast and Conditions

Despite the heavy fog in the morning, UAE residents can expect generally fair weather throughout the day. The NCM forecasts humid conditions on Thursday night and Friday morning, with a possibility of fog or mist, especially along some western coastal areas.

Wind conditions will be light to moderate, and the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are predicted to have slight sea conditions. Temperature highs in internal areas could reach up to 47℃, with lows around 26℃, and humidity levels are expected to climb to 75%.

Staying Updated

Residents are encouraged to follow reliable news sources and official channels for continuous updates on weather conditions and safety advisories.

In light of the current foggy conditions, motorists are advised to remain cautious and adhere to the safety measures outlined by the authorities.

By doing so, they can help ensure their own safety and the safety of others on the road during these challenging weather conditions.
