Iraq: PM talks to German Chancellor over phone

Baghdad: Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani talked to the German Chancellor. Both Discussed many issues, including the situation in the Middle East. Both leaders spoke over the phone on Friday, 3rd of November 2023. German chancellor Olaf Schulz described the steps of his country for bringing peace to the Middle East.

Both leaders spoke over the phone on Friday, 3rd of November 2023. German chancellor Olaf Schulz described the steps of his country for bringing peace to the Middle East.

During the talk, PM Al-Sudani underlined the significance of the bilateral relations between both countries. He expressed the hope of enhancing the mutual cooperation between Iraq and Germany. Iraqi PM also said that an improved partnership between both nations would pave the way for the broader scope of the economic development and cooperation, which will have mutual benefits for the people of Iraq and Germany.

Prime Minister, while talking on the issue of the Israel-Hamas conflict, said there is a need for an immediate ceasefire to prevent the humanitarian crisis. He condemned the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister noted Iraq always respect the claim of Palestine’s people for their homeland.

Moreover, the Prime Minister urged the German Chancellor to persuade the European Union to put maximum pressure on Israel so that the loss of civilians could be reduced in a war zone.

On his part, the Chancellor of Germany, Scholz, also stated that “Germany is making its best effort to bring an immediate ceasefire to the Israel-Hamas conflict. He said that the Germany condemned the Attack on civilians”.

German Chancellor further underscored that the medium of dialogue could solve the ongoing conflict. Moreover, humanitarian assistance should be supplied to the Gaza Strip without any interruption

The war between the Israel and Hamas groups erupted on the 7th of October 2023. militants of the Hamas group had launched the sudden rocket attack on Israel’s territories under the name of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood”. As a retaliatory action, Israel also launched the operation “Operation Iron Sword”. Till now, thousands of civilians have been killed, including children.
