Minister of Intl. Cooperation Al Mashat opens conference on supporting governance in Egypt

The Ministry of International Cooperation of Egypt, Dr Rania Al-Mashat, issued a statement addressing the opening of a high-level conference on supporting public and economic governance in Egypt, funded by the EU in association with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on February 8, 2023.

As per the information, the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr Raina, affirms the program’s importance in promoting the principles of transparency, good governance and administrative Reform in line with state priorities.

Furthermore, the conference witnesses the participation of the Ambassador of the European Union, the Deputy Director of the Department of Governance in the Economic Cooperation and Development Organization, the head of the Central Bureau for Regulation and Administration, and representatives of national authorities participating in the program.

On her part, Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, opened the high-level conference on the program to support public and economic governance in Egypt funded by the European Union in the light of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union.

She further pointed out that in cooperation with the Economic Cooperation and Development Organization was also assisted with the participation of Dr Saleh El-Sheikh, Chief of the Central Organization for Regulation and Administration, and Ambassador Christian Berger, Ambassador European Union in Egypt, Dr Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development,

Along with Mrs Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Mr Janous Bertouk, Deputy Director of the Department of Government of the Economic Cooperation and Development Organization OECD.

In her speech, Minister of International Cooperation, Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, stressed the importance of the programme implemented in partnership with the European Union, the Economic Cooperation and Development, the Communications and Information Technology Ministry, and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, given its importance and consistency with state priorities regarding promoting transparency, good governance and administrative Reform.

The Minister of International Cooperation explained that the program is focused on three key axes, which are supporting the Egypt Vision 2030, supporting the National Plan for Administrative Reform, implementing effective operational and financial systems through active participation between all national stakeholders and development partners, and continuous coordination between all relevant parties.

During her speech, the Minister of International Cooperation – highlighted the Egyptian state’s efforts to implement structural reforms in all sectors since 2016, aiming to promote comprehensive and sustainable economic growth.

She also commenced the reform process by adopting the Egypt Vision 2030, raising the competence of state employees, and stimulating comprehensive Reform and capacity building at levels of Individual, institutional, practical and digital transformation.

In the end, the conference continues over two days with the aim of discussing the role of the program in the field of public governance through discussion sessions with the participation of all national stakeholders and development partners in order to maximize the use of the program in light of state priorities, as well as monitoring and evaluating its activities.
