On Thursday, Sharjah Police revealed that its operations centre handled a total of 12,241 calls throughout the New Year’s celebrations. Of these, 9,992 calls were made via the emergency number 999, while 2,249 calls were made through the non-emergency number 901.

The coordination between Sharjah’s operations room and those in the central and eastern regions of the emirate allowed for a rapid response to all incoming calls, contributing to the smooth management of the celebrations.

The Sharjah Police’s operations room remained on high alert during the festivities, effectively categorizing incoming calls based on their level of urgency.

Emergency situations were swiftly addressed, and non-emergency calls were directed to the appropriate authorities, ensuring an efficient and streamlined response system.

The police have underscored the importance of public cooperation, urging residents to call 999 in the event of emergencies and 901 for non-urgent matters.

The clear communication of these guidelines helped improve response times and maintain order during a busy and high-demand period.

Additionally, the police emphasized the role of community support in achieving these positive results. They commended residents for their patience and cooperation, which contributed significantly to the overall success of the New Year’s Eve security plan.

As Sharjah continues to grow as a popular destination for events and celebrations, the local police force’s ability to handle such large-scale operations demonstrates its commitment to public safety.

This approach aligns with the emirate’s vision to maintain a secure and well-organized environment for both locals and tourists, especially during busy periods such as the New Year festivities.

Sharjah Police have called on the public to remain vigilant and continue their collaboration with authorities, as the emirate enters 2025 with a firm commitment to upholding safety and security for all.
