St Kitts and Nevis: The Government of the Twin-island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has recently announced amendments to the Poverty Alleviation Programme in association with the Social Development and Gender Affair Ministry.

St Kitts and Nevis: The Government of the Twin-island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has recently announced amendments to the Poverty Alleviation Programme in association with the Social Development and Gender Affair Ministry.

As per the recent information, the Ministry has made it public the update on the application process for the programme. In addition, during the amendments process, at least 9,094 applications were reviewed and completed in total, along with verifying and processing said reports.

The reports have stated that there will be an eligibility criterion of the household earning less than XCD$ 3,000 per month during the reviewing and processing period of the application. Furthermore, the government of St Kitts and Nevis conveyed that close to 8,985 applicants had been accepted based on self-reported earnings.

As per the authorities, after the selection process, the applications will go through a verification process according to the employment and income status of the eligible applicants. “The verification process will be conducted with the Social Security Board’s help,” said government officials.

Moreover, the following is the list of the priority households that will be eligible to receive the payments from the Poverty Alleviation Programme according to the approval by St Kitts and Nevis Cabinet.

  • Household service headed by minor children
  • Household service led by seniors, persons the age of 62 years and older
  • Households headed by persons with disabilities

According to the update from the Social Development and Gender Affair Ministry, The payment cycle for the households, which seniors and persons with disabilities will head, will commence on Monday, February 6, 2023. The future payments to the other additional categories of beneficiaries will be provided by the last working day of every month, along with February 2023.

The application details of eligible applicants to complete the review process for payment of additional persons will be verified by the Department of Community Development by February 28 2023. Information on the status of all submitted applications will be updated through the programme application portal in the upcoming weeks.
