UAE: Geo Denque- student of Xavier University shared a story of his trip to old Dubai. He also shared his experience of witnessing the great history and culture of the region.

He said that he went to Gold Souk the other day – ALONE. Yes, alone.  He was braving the heat and humidity. Sweats were dripping all over me. But he did not mind it at all. In fact, he really enjoyed my time there. He felt festive for some reason.

He was looking forward to witness and experience the old Dubai with his own two eyes because Denque has always and forever very much fond of great history and culture in any country (you cannot imagine).

He said,”When we were still kids (me, my sister and my cousins), going back to early 80s and 90s and 2000s, we used to hear astonishing stories about how amazing Dubai was from our Aunts Mscf Bing and Imee Fu.”

The student mentioned that the Burj Al Arab, Deira Clock Tower and Gold Souk to name a few. He thinks at that time by the way, Burj Khalifa is still under construction and soaring up high to perfection as it is now. Upon hearing those stories, he himself as a kid used to dream about being in Dubai when he grows up. And finally, he’s here, and now he is speechless.

“No words can define how ecstatic I was just being there. Seeing “THE” famous Gold Souq in flesh. Maybe for some, they might say that this may not be a big deal, sounds corny and comical, but for me, it was monumental. It hits different when your dream became true! I told myself “So this is Gold Souq, WOW!”. The Souq is very wide and everything is picturesque,”he added.

Gold Souq is just a part of the place. Although he has not explored every corner of the place, He saw a lot of things happening there. All magical. All historical. All beautiful. When he can already afford all the things that he want, he will go back there and spoil myself and plunge in immediately.

“This post is for you Auntie Bing and Auntie Ni. You were both on my mind while I was there. I cannot wait for you both to come back here where it all started. I miss you and I love you to the sun and back,”said the student.
