UAE Denies Visa Ban on Bangladeshi Nationals Amid Online Rumours

Bangladeshi officials confirm that UAE has not issued any new visa restrictions, debunking widespread online reports and emphasizing continued collaboration to facilitate travel and employment for Bangladeshi nationals in the UAE

Dubai: The UAE has not imposed any visa restrictions on Bangladeshi nationals, a senior official confirmed, refuting widespread online claims.

Tareq Ahmed, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the UAE, clarified that the reports circulating on social media and certain websites have no official basis. He emphasized that no UAE government official has issued any directive regarding a ban.

Some online platforms had reported that the UAE introduced a ban on nationals from certain countries, preventing them from obtaining tourist or work visas. However, no official statement was attributed to any UAE authority.

Ambassador Ahmed told Bangladesh’s NTV that the news is inauthentic, as UAE authorities have not issued any new visa-related directives for Bangladeshi citizens.

Bangladeshi nationals form a significant portion of the UAE’s population. According to Global Media Insight, about 0.84 million Bangladeshis reside in the country, representing roughly 7.4 per cent of the total population. They are the third largest expatriate group after Indians and Pakistanis.

Md. Rashedujjaman, the consul-general of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, put the population closer to one million. Speaking to Khaleej Times during celebrations of Bangladesh’s 55th Independence and National Day, he highlighted ongoing discussions with UAE authorities to facilitate visa processes for Bangladeshi citizens.

“We want to see Bangladeshi nationals become a part of the UAE’s success story,” Rashedujjaman said.

The clarification comes amid growing concerns on social media platforms, where unverified news about visa bans tends to spread rapidly. Officials stress that such reports are misleading and could affect bilateral relations and community confidence.

Bangladesh and the UAE have maintained strong diplomatic and economic ties, with millions of Bangladeshi nationals contributing to various sectors of the UAE economy. Ensuring ease of travel and work opportunities remains a priority for both governments.

Both the ambassador and the consul-general have urged the Bangladeshi community to rely only on verified sources for updates on visas and official policies. They reassured that there are no restrictions currently affecting Bangladeshi citizens in the UAE.

The UAE’s position confirms that all current visa arrangements for work, tourism, and residency remain valid, and the existing collaboration with Bangladesh continues to be strong and supportive.

Bangladeshi nationals in the UAE can continue their employment, travel, and residence without concern, according to the latest statements from both diplomatic missions.

The embassy and consulate continue to monitor developments and encourage citizens to report any misinformation to the appropriate authorities, reinforcing the importance of official communication channels.

This clarification is expected to calm anxiety within the Bangladeshi community in the UAE and reaffirm the ongoing partnership between the two countries.
