UAE retains top position in vaccination rates in the world

The UAE is leading all over the world when it comes to fully vaccinated citizens. As per an index released by Our World In Data, the UAE takes the top position in the world with a population of more than one million.

The country also retains the first position when it comes to citizens who have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of 13 April, almost 97.5% of residents who are eligible are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Around 100% of eligible civilians have got at least one shot of the vaccine.

The country ranks second all over the world when it comes to the total number of PCR tests conducted every 1000 individuals.

The UAE has also recorded the lowest number of deaths emerging from the virus, with rank nine globally. The country has not even witnessed any deaths related to COVID since the beginning of last month.

On Wednesday, 13 April, a government spokesperson said, “The latest Covid-19 statistics confirm that the country is recovering, and there is a significant decline in daily cases.”

Daily cases being reported these days are below the 250 mark, which is a significant decrease from the 3000+ infections that were being reported in the mid of January this year.

He further added, “We recommend everyone to continue adhering to the precautionary measures, including wearing face masks, practising social distancing, sanitising hands and avoiding overcrowded areas.”

“Safeguarding the country’s successes amidst new Covid variants is a social challenge that we need to meet, and we are sure that the people of the UAE are up to this challenge.”

COVID is on a decline these days, but its new variants are considered to be dangerous, and amid all measures related to COVID being uplifted all over the world, the infection might spread again.
