UAE sent search, rescue team in Libya to assist people in flood-affected areas

The search and rescue team sent by the United Arab Emirates has arrived in Benghazi, Libya on Wednesday to assist the already installed rescue teams in the flood affected areas across the towns.

It is to be noted that, the UAE Seach and Rescue Team was deployed after the directives made by the President of UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Considerably, UAE has sent over team of 34 members for assisting the people in the flood affected regions. It has been added that, “Following UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives, the team of 34, equipped for search and rescue operations, swiftly went into action. They hold an international ‘Heavy’ category license, authorized by the UN’s INSARAG.”

The recent help from UAE side came following the announcement made by the UAE officials, to help and stand along with the Libya authorities to help those who have victimized or are affected by the catastrophe caused by the recent floods.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the death toll from the floods has already crossed the mark of 6,000, with over thousands of other missing. The details about the above mentioned has been shared by the unit government official.

Along with this, the eastern administration of Libya, said that, over 5,300 bodies have been so far counted in Derna alone so far, with that number likely to rise and even cross the mark of double of that number.

Notably, according to the minister of the civil aviation in the administration that runs the eastern Libya, Hichem Chkiouat, said that, “The sea at the city of Derna is constant on dumping dozens of bodies.

At the same time, the minister has further made appeal for the international aid and help, saying that Libya does not have the experience to deal with a disaster of this magnitude.
