Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to enhancing global education

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged to send 40,000 school bags to Lebanon, a significant initiative directed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).

This gesture comes under the “UAE with Lebanon” campaign, launched by President Sheikh Mohamed, to support the continuity of education in Lebanon amid ongoing challenges.

The project underscores the UAE’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian efforts, with a focus on creating hope and opportunities for communities in need.

It also aligns with the broader mission of strengthening educational infrastructure and addressing the pressing needs of Lebanese students and their families.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to enhancing global education.

“The UAE’s humanitarian mission is centered on providing innovative and sustainable educational solutions. The Digital School is a key initiative in this regard, offering learning opportunities to children in underserved areas worldwide,” he stated.

Responding to Educational Crises

The provision of school bags is part of a series of initiatives designed to mitigate the impact of Lebanon’s current crises on its education sector.

In October 2023, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, directed the Digital School to extend its programs to Lebanon, focusing on ensuring the continuity of education despite challenging circumstances.

The Digital School initiative has been instrumental in delivering quality education to marginalized communities through advanced technological platforms.

It aims to empower young learners by equipping them with essential tools and skills for their future, reflecting the UAE’s innovative approach to addressing global educational disparities.

A Legacy of Support

Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent, highlighted the UAE’s proactive role in supporting Lebanon during its time of need.

“The UAE has always felt a deep responsibility towards Lebanon and has been among the first nations to respond to its challenges. This project is a testament to our enduring partnership and shared commitment to a better future,” he remarked.

The “UAE with Lebanon” campaign represents a broader humanitarian framework by the Emirates Red Crescent to provide immediate and sustainable assistance. The campaign seeks not only to support education but also to promote resilience among Lebanese communities.

A New Year of Hope

As the UAE ushers in the New Year with celebrations across cities like Ras Al Khaimah, where the iconic fireworks display captivated audiences, its commitment to global humanitarian causes remains steadfast. The school bag initiative exemplifies how the UAE balances progress at home with an unwavering dedication to global welfare.

By empowering Lebanese students and educators through such targeted interventions, the UAE continues to reinforce its leadership in global philanthropy, underscoring the transformative impact of education on communities facing adversity.
