Queen Elizabeth to meet President Joe Biden and the First Lady!

Queen Elizabeth will meet US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at her Windsor Castle on 13th June, announced The Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday that the G7 Summit, hosted by Britain in Cornwall, England will begin next week. The summit will be attended by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, which is also going to be Biden’s first overseas trip since he took office in January. This meeting is also the biggest in-person diplomatic event since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Palace stated that the monarch will meet President Biden and Jill Biden while they are in the U.K. for the Group of Seven summit. During the summit, the Queen will meet other world leaders as well as the event will also be attended by the leaders of UK, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan.

With this meeting, President Joe Biden will become 13th serving American leader to meet the monarch. Before this, the Queen met former US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump at the Palace in 2019. Her Majesty was also visited by Barack Obama a day after her 90th birthday in 2016.

According to the Royal Central, President Biden will also enjoy a visit to the House of Commons with a personal invitation from Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House. Apparently, this perk wasn’t offered to Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump at the time of his visit.

The meeting on 13th June will be Queen Elizabeth’s first major engagement after demise of her husband Prince Philip, who died in April 2021.

No further information has been given by the Palace. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told that further details will be revealed shortly. This is going to be one of the first major events hosted and attended by the Queen after Her Majesty spent most of last year inside the castle due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for President Biden, he will attend the NATO summit at Brussels (Belgium) the day after meeting with Queen Elizabeth. Subsequently, on June 16, Biden is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Switzerland.
