Tommy Dorfman re-introduces herself as trans woman!

Actor Tommy Dorfman, famously known her work in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, has announced herself as a trans woman in a recent interview with the Time Magazine.

Talking to the interviewer Torrey Peters, who is a trans novelist, Tommy made the revelation stating, “I view today as a reintroduction to me as a woman, having made a transition medically … Today is about clarity: I am a trans woman. My pronouns are she/her. My name is Tommy.”

Tommy said that she now used she/her pronouns.

Dorfman said, “Some people moved houses during the pandemic, some people changed genders. For many years I wanted to start transitioning and it felt really daunting and really scary to embark on that journey, especially because I’m at the beginning of my career.”

“For me, it really took everything to go away, me alone in my bed, trying to imagine what my life at 60 would look like — and all I can see was a woman,” said Tommy, who says she felt feminine inside since childhood.

Tommy called transition a beautiful process. She said, “I recognize that transitioning is beautiful. Why not let the world see what that looks like? So I kept, on Instagram, a diaristic time capsule instead—one that shows a body living in a more fluid space,”

“With this medical transition, there has been discourse about my body, and it began to feel overwhelming,” she explained. “So, recently I looked to examples of others who have come out as trans. There’s the version I couldn’t really afford to do, which is to disappear for two years and come back with a new name, new face and new body. But that’s not what I wanted.”

Tommy also shone a light on the impact of her transitioning on her relationship with her husband Peter Zurkuhlen. She stated, “I was in a nine-year relationship in which I was thought of as a more male-bodied person, with a gay man. I love him so much, but we’ve been learning that as a trans woman, what I’m interested in is not necessarily reflected in a gay man. So we’ve had incredible conversations to redefine our relationship as friends.”

Meanwhile, sharing his wife’s pictures on his social media, Peter also praised Tommy stating, “So much love. You are gorgeous and you are fully you.”
