UAE: Dubai Police file case against a man for roaming around in JBR

On Friday, Dubai Police arrested a young Arab national for walking naked in public through the city. Apparently, the man was roaming nearby Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) area, and video of the same was captured by one of the people who witnessed the obscene act.

The video was gone viral on social media. Reportedly, the man also tried to assault two people, a delivery driver and a security guard, on the street.

Later, the Dubai Media Office announced that the police had been arrested the Arab national. Dubai police took Twitter to inform about the arrest, and they further added that it was found that the young man had a severe mental illness.

The Dubai Police tweeted, “Police today arrested an Arab youth for obscene behaviour in public. Probes showed that he suffers from severe mental disorders.”

Lewd Act in UAE:

In UAE, the nudity act, including stripping naked in bars and engaging in the physical act at the beach, is a punishable offence by law. It is considered that such acts are a violation of public conduct.

According to the Article 358 of the UAE’s Penal Code, if anyone in Dubai or UAE will commit public nudity, he/ she will be an offender and be sentenced to at least six months of imprisonment. This imprisonment period could be increased to a year if the act includes a boy or a girl of age below 15 years.
