Board of Control for Cricket in India have informed that the organisation is planning to start women's IPL by the year 2023.

World: Board of Control for Cricket in India have informed that the organisation is planning to start women’s IPL by the year 2023. The announcement has been made by Board President Sourav Ganguly on Friday, March 25, 2022.

BCCI Board President, while in conversation with the media houses on Friday, asserted, “It (the full-fledged women’s IPL) has to be approved by the AGM. We plan to start it by next year, hopefully.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of IPL – Brijesh Patel, notified the media that the ongoing year would witness at least four matches for the three women teams around men’s IPL playoffs. He said, “There will be four matches involving three teams around the time of the playoffs.”

These games were scheduled to take place last year, but following the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the second half of the IPL T20 was held in the United Arab Emirates. The matches are expected to take place in Pune, Maharashtra.

IPL starts from today onwards in India for men’s cricket teams. The first match of the tournament will take place between Chennai Super Kings up against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede stadium.

Cricket is “the most loved” game in India, and year by year, the craze of a women’s cricket team has also seen a rise.

The governing council further also held discussions on the issue of IPL media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle. Meanwhile, one of the Governing Council members providing brief information on the matter stated, “The tender will be out soon.”
