The intensity was so high that many residents assembled in open areas around their homes. Many people reported of being woken out of their sleep due to tremors.

Many people from Dubai and Sharjah, as well as Ras Al Khaimah, took to social to share photos and videos of the same.

While some Twitter users reported that they felt the tremors for a few seconds, and some said it lasted for around 5 minutes. Many long-term residents highlighted that the tremors were “stronger and longer” than anything they have ever felt to date.

Around five earthquakes hit southern Iran on Saturday, that ranges from magnitude 4.3 to 6.3, as per the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Two of the earthquakes were estimated at around 6.3 as per the authority, which struck at 1:32 am, and 3:24 am, respectively, and these were also felt by residents.

It further said that the quakes did not further impact the UAE.

At least five people lost their lives to a magnitude of 6.1 earthquakes in the southern Iran during the early hours of Saturday, with the area also hit by two later strong earthquakes of around 6.3 magnitudes.

The manager of emergency management in Hormozgan Province on Iran’s Gulf coat, Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, stated, “Five people have died in an earthquake, and so far 12 have been hospitalised due to injuries. Rescue operations has been carried out by the authorities, and we are now supplying tents as emergency housing for people.”

The US Geological Survey stated that many other countries were “affected” due to the earthquake, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, and Afghanistan.
