An Irishman is all set to go on the adventure of a lifetime from Dubai to his home country on a motorbike. Evan Bourke, aged 33, will be leaving the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, July 19, for a 10,000km trip to his born nation of Donegal.

He is taking this trip to help raise money for charities, including the International Red Cross and Emirates Red Crescent.

Bourke will be travelling around 11 different nations on his journey, which is named by him as ‘Dubai to Donegal’.

He said Dubai to Donegal is an adventure journey where I will travel around 11 different nations while putting 10,000 km on my motorcycle.

With unfortunate things happening in several nations, I thought this trip would be an excellent opportunity for less fortunate people, he further added.

His journey will witness him travel around countries such as Turkey, Greece, Iran, Croatia, Albania and France along the way.

The trip was initially planned to take place in early 2020, but as with so many other events, it had to be delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bourke said he was keen to make up for the time he lost.

Residing and working in Dubai among so many various cultures has also played an essential role in helping him to plan the route, said Bourke.

He will be travelling by himself as he makes his way towards Ireland but thinks his last experience will put him in good stead.

“Earlier motorcycle trips I have done in Australia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkey and Vietnam have given me the faith to take on a bigger trip of this scale,” he said.

Bourke is calling on people to help donate by funding 1km for Dh1, and there is no limit on how many kilometres one person can sponsor.
