The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, wished them good health and happiness, more progress and prosperity for their peoples and glory and dignity for their countries.

Sheikh Mohamed, in a tweet, stated that he hoped the year ahead would bring stability and progress.

He stated, “Congratulations to the people of the UAE and to Muslims in the world on the occasion of the Hijri New Year.”

He further added, “We pray to God that the year forth will be one of progress and stability as we reflect on the importance of the Prophet’s migration in search of peace and security.”

Meanwhile, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, sent similar wishes to Muslim and Arab leaders around the world on the holy occasion.

On the other hand, Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has declared that public parking spaces and toll charges will not be collected on the Hijri New Year holiday on July 30, Saturday.

Surface parking spaces will also be free of cost during the occasion starting on July 30 till 7:59 am on the next day. Furthermore, Mussafah Industrial area parking lot M18 will also be free of cost during the official holiday.

On July 30, Saturday, there will be an official paid holiday for all private and public sector employees in the United Arab Emirates to mark the occasion.

The Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year or Arabic New Year, is the day that observes the start of a new lunar Hijri year and is the occasion on which the year count is incremented.
