UAE: Government prepares for COVID19 booster dose campaign in Autumn

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, on Thursday, September 1 reported 481 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, 540 recoveries, and no deaths, with total active cases standing at 18,640.

The new cases of Covid19 were detected through 260,132 additional tests. The total number of recoveries in UAE of first September is 1,015,879, while full recoveries stand at 994,898. The death toll now stands at 2,341.

The US food and drug administration updated COVID19 booster doses, including Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna, focusing on the dominant BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants, as the government of UAE is preparing for an Autumn vaccination campaign which will be starting in a few days of this month.

Both vaccines are followed up by the original version of the virus, focusing on the shots which were used for vaccination previously.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorised the shots for everyone over age twelve. People who have had a primary vaccination series and two months out from the last COVID19 booster dose available to people aged fifty and older.

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf said, โ€œAs we head into Autumn and begin to spend more time indoors, we strongly encourage anyone eligible to consider receiving a booster dose with a (duel targeted) Covid-19 vaccine to provide better protection against new variants.โ€

Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, The academic year 2022-23 marks the beginning of the UAEโ€™s most regular schooling. Covid-19 rules have been eased, and all activities have been resumed.

A new COVID19 update has been made in UAE, including that students must get PCR tests after the summer break. The students aged 12 and above are asked to bring a PCR test report before coming to the school.

The update states that students above twelve must have a PCR test report while returning to school after a long summer break.

The update includes that the PCR negative test report must not exceed ninety-six hours from the starting first day of school after the summer break.
