EHS announces free flu vaccines to UAE residents

Emirates Health Services (EHS) is set to offer free flu vaccines to UAE residents under high-risk categories who can start getting their flu vaccine under the national awareness campaign announced on Friday.

The statement comes as part of the execution of EHS’ complete plan for tackling infectious diseases, including influenza.

“The campaign is aligned with the country’s strategies for combatting seasonal and infectious diseases, such as influenza. It is also part of EHS’ mission to enhance all its healthcare facilities’ readiness, raise community awareness and boost prevention rates,” said Dr Shamsa Lootah, director of the Public Health Services Department at Emirates Health Services.

People who can expect to get free flu vaccinations are UAE Citizens, Pregnant Women, People of determination
Individuals over 50 years of age, Individuals with chronic diseases, Children under the age of five and Health sector workers.

The rest of society members can get their flu vaccination for a standard fee. It is available in all public health centres, primary healthcare clinics, and hospitals under EHS.

Dr Lootah said that The Emirates Health Services (EHS) aims to introduce vaccinations as part of the societal health awareness culture, especially since jabs have been proven effective in preventing infectious diseases and reducing their risks.

Lately, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) offered that UAE residents no could get the COVID-19 and Flu vaccine on the same day.

This announcement on Monday came as a part of MoHAP’s official launch of the National Seasonal Flu Awareness Campaign under the theme “Protect yourself, Protect your community”.
