Dubai: Government announces free parking on Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

Public parking areas in Dubai, excluding multi-level terminals, have been announced to be accessible to visitors without fees on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhhamad on October 8, Saturday.

Service provider centres (technical testing of vehicles) and customer happiness centres will close on Saturday on the special occasion.

The RTA’s head office will be operated on their usual timings through intelligent customer happiness centres at Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Manara, Al Kafaf, and Al Tawar on October 8 2022.

The authorities in Abu Dhabi announced free tolls and parking on the day. Sharjah also announced free parking in most areas.

The authorities of UAE have announced official public paid holiday on Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in the Private sector on October 8 2022.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources had earlier announced that the nation would observe paid public holiday on October 8 due to the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

The authority added that only the private sector would remain closed on Saturday, and the work would be continued on Monday.

In several Islamic countries, including all the Gulf countries, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad is honoured on the 3rd month of the Islamic calendar, which is 12 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1444.

The authority cleared that this does not call for a long weekend, but it will be a comfort for those who work on Saturdays every week.

On the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday, this public holiday will be observed by two more, rounding off the list of authorised leaves for the year 2022.

The two public breaks will be recognition of UAE Nation day and Commemoration day.

However, these dates fall on December 1, 2 and 3, with December 4 being a Sunday, the first week of December. This would decode into the last four-day weekend of the year.
