Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre to launch Aviation Security Diploma

The International Civil Aviation Organization and the Airports Council International (ACI) to qualify participants in the field of aviation security and hone their professional skills and capabilities.

As per the information shared on the official page of Dubai Police Facebook, the launching event was inaugurated by His Excellency Major General Pilot Ahmed Mohammed Bin Thani, Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs in Dubai Police, in the presence of His Excellency Major General Ali Atiq Bin Lahej, Director of the General Department of Airports Security at Dubai Police; Colonel Eng. Marwan Mohammad Singel, Director of Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre at the General Department of Airport Security at Dubai Police, and several senior officers and employees.

The Diploma was officially launched by His Excellency Major General Pilot Ahmed Mohammed Bin Thani, Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs in Dubai Police, in the presence of His Excellency Major General Ali Atiq Bin Lahej, Director of the General Department of Airports Security at Dubai Police; Colonel Eng. Marwan Mohammad Singel, Director of Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre at the General Department of Airports Security at Dubai Police, and several senior officers and employees.

The Aviation Security Diploma is an integrated professional and training programme delivered by aviation security experts from the (ACI) and (ICAO), with the participation of 21 personnel of the Dubai Police. They specialise in aviation security and a retired expert aviation security officer from Greece.

Maj. Gen. Pilot Bin Thani said the Diploma was per the directives of Dubai Police’s Commander-in-Chief, HE Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri. It comes within the Force’s keenness to train and qualify human cadres and refine their expertise with advanced and up-to-date training programmes in various areas, including the aviation security field.
First Diploma

Maj. Gen. Bin Lahej said: “this is not just a regular diploma but an integrated professional and training programme that experts deliver from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Airports Council International (ACI). “It’s also a great opportunity to exchange experiences between the Dubai Civil Aviation Security Centre, the Airports Council International (ACI), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” he added.

Col. Eng. Marwan Singel confirmed that the Aviation Security Diploma features three significant courses that support aviation security efforts and refine national expertise in the field of Aviation Security. He noted that the first course is “Airport Security Management,” which guides aviation security personnel at the administrative level and in all matters relating to planning, coordinating, and implementing preventive measures of airport security.

He also indicated that the second course is “Airport Security Operations,” which addresses airports’ challenges in security, analysing security operations, developing solution-oriented methodologies, and how to engage all stakeholders to raise awareness and improve airport security.

“The third course discusses “Quality Management in Airport Security,” including concepts of quality, and explains the role of the Director of Aviation Security. It also provides an accurate description of how to implement the quality management system, forms a quality system committee, and set up procedures for reporting quality incidents and other related issues”, Col. Eng. Singel concluded.
