Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew – The Prime Minister and Minister of Health of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, has expressed immense pride in attending the First Joint Senior Nurse Manager’s Meeting. The meeting was held at the Joseph N. France General Hospital in Brumaire on Friday, April 21, 2023.
According to the shared updates, Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared the news through his official social media account and expressed his heartiest gratitude regarding his participation in the Joint Senior Nurse Manager’s Meeting.
In his remarks, PM Drew took to his Facebook caption and wrote that it was a privilege for him to get engaged in the event and discussions based on the concept of nursing leadership and its aspects.
Meanwhile, in this regard, he also pointed out the distinct factors and fundamentals involved in the entire idea of leadership of nurses in St Kitts and Nevis. Furthermore, he delivered his brief speech focusing on recognizing the significance and essential role of the nurses in the health care centres of the Caribbean country.
During the meeting, he noted in his address that the healthcare infrastructure is directly and substantially affected by the Nursing Leadership as it provides a significant thrust to the nation’s health sector towards growth.
While sharing his remarks, he also stressed that the healthcare institutions in the country are basically dependent on several aspects of Nursing leadership, including the effectiveness, patients, and caregivers, who are also the backbone of the system.
As the Minister of Health, Terrance Drew also assured the attendees during the First Joint Senior Nurse Manager’s Meeting that the government of St Kitts and Nevis is keen and committed to assisting them in their journey to upgrade the health care infrastructure and functionality.
He said, “The government intends to upgrade the healthcare sector to ensure easy and safe access to every resident to world-class medical technologies along with top-level medical care.”
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Drew has also shed light that Institutional Enhancement Projects are more likely to be considered for major investments, including providing suitable incentives to the potential medical staff and doctors.
“This would boost the overall morale and motivation among the health care workers, which would also correct discrepancies within the health sector,” he concluded.
