Iraq’s PM presides over meeting of ministerial council for national security

Prime Minister Mohammed S Al-Sudani, who is also commander-in-chief of armed forces, chaired a meeting of the ministerial Council for national security. The objective of the meeting was  to make efforts  to improve relations of Iraq with other countries.

In the meeting, the current security situation of the country was discussed.In meeting the efforts of various security and investigations agencies were also appreciated.

These security and investigation agencies are engaged in the process of countering the ISIS threat along with tackling oranised crimes and drug trafficking.

The topics discussed in the meeting was to establishment of a comprehensive information system for the crimonal justice. This system will have the backing of a database that contains the judicial archive, following international judicial standards.

The primary purpose of the information system is to monitor is the individual’s activities who are involved in specific crimes in line with the standard of criminal justice.Moreover, this system will also support the realisation of a fair and efficient judiciary, streamline procedures , and reduce cost and time.

At the same time in the meeting they also discussed the security agreeement strucked between the Iraq and Iran. An agreement between Iraq and Iran was executed to maintain the peace at the border of both countries.

This particular agreement was concluded when a delegation from Iraq led by the National Security Advisor of Iraq visited Tehran. It is worth to mention that the former Prime Minnister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki visted many time to Iran since 2006 and he also supported the Nuclear progamma of the Iran. Since then, Iran has become its largest trading partner of  the Iraq.

Moreover, both the countries, i.e. Iraq and Iran, also support each other with full  strength in their fight against the IslamicIslamic State (ISIS)

The delgation of Iraq during its visit discussed security coordinations between both the countries based on priciple of good neighbouelines and to prevent any kind of protest along the borders.

The prime minister Mohammed S Al-Sudani also instructed the minister of foreign naffairs to engage avtively with turkish foreign minister . The aim of the meeting of foreign ministers of Iraq and Turkey is to activate the bilateral security committee aimed at addressing the border security issues.

The prime minister wants to enhance his countriy’s engagement with turkey, in recent time especially after late 2011, relation between both the countries turned sour. Despite the past experience, both the countries shared many historical,cultural, and traditional values.
