Dominica: Meritta Hyacinth becomes 64th President of JCI West Indies, PM Skerrit congratulates

Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated Meritta Hyacinth for becoming the 64th President of JCI West Indies.

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, congratulated Meritta Hyacinth, who had been elected as the 64th president of JCI(Junior Chamber International) West Indies.

it is to be specifically mentioned that in its six-decade-old history of JCI, Meritta Hyacinth became the first Dominican woman to reach this top position of this prestigious organisation.

Prime Minister also posted on social media handles to express his happiness and extend congratulations to Meritta Hyacinth for her achievement.

He wrote on Facebook, “We Wish Miss Meritta Hyacinth every success as she continues the Jaycee tradition of leadership and service to the region and its people.”

Meanwhile, social media flooded with congratulatory messages, with one user adding, “Congratulations, meritta, well done. Best wishes for a successful year”.

Another social media user, Martha Maynard, commented that, “Awesome!!! Congratulations and well deserved!!! Wishing you a successful term.”

Merritta Hyacinth is a young community leader from Dominica. He holds a graduation degree in history and social studies from the University of Southern Caribbean. She also earned a post-graduation certificate in heritage study from the University of Florence.

She served in various positions after joining JCI Dominica in 2016. It is noteworthy that she was elected as the president of JCI Dominica in 2020.

In the year 2021, she also served in Disaster Risk management as an executive assistant. Moreover, she is also a member of the National Reparation of Dominica and played for the national cricket team from 2016 to 2017.

The announcement in this regard came on Friday. Junior Chamber International is a unique and exceptional leadership organisation. This organisation prepare its members to play their major role in the social, economic, and political field of Dominica.

CJI, from its existence, played a significant and vital role in the upliftment of Caribbean people, especially women, by training them in leadership development and community empowerment in the whole Caribbean region.

Addtionaly, CJI roles are widely recognised throughout the Caribbean region for their worthy contribution to the socio-economic development of large number of individuals.
