Egypt: Transport Minister meets delegation of World Bank

The Minister of Transport of Egypt held a discussion with the delegation of the International Bank. The discussion was held to get familiar with the latest updates on the project to develop the trade logistics line between Cairo and Alexandria.

The Minister of Transport of Egypt held a discussion with the delegation of the International Bank. The discussion was held to get familiar with the latest updates on the project to develop the trade logistics line between Cairo and Alexandria.

Minister of Transport, while meeting with a delegation from the World Bank Group, wanted to know the progress of the implementation rates of joint projects and discuss the number of proposed projects for the future with cooperation between both parties in different transport areas of the country.

The Minister of Transport appreciated the fruitful cooperation between the two sides in the implementation of joint projects. He also emphasized that there is an urgent need for the continuation of mutual cooperation to implement a number of future projects that will serve the Egyptian interest.

Mr. Ibrahim Al-Dajani, Director of Practices in the Middle East and North Africa Region Chief Economist in Transport, stated that The International Bank is happy to cooperate with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in implementing a number of projects with the mutual cooperation of the transport ministry of Egypt and World bank.

There was in depth discussion on the development  of the trade logistics line between Cairo and Alexandria. This project includes three projects, and the first is the creation of the dry port link on  Al-Mashi line, as well as connecting the Oasis line with the upstream rail lines.

World Bank delegation said that there would be every kind of assistance to Egypt. Delegation also ensured that all the development projects would be executed within the stipulated time frame.

It is worth mentioning that in the past also world bank provided the huge financial assistance to Egypt. At the bigining of the year World Bank approved the seven billion dollars to support the reforms of Egypt

Transport Minister said, that past assisstance of the world bank proved very benificial for the devolepment work of the Egypt.
