Doha: Authorities announce regulations for traffic movement in city

The General Directorate of Traffic has announced many rules and regulations for the smooth traffic movement in the city. These regulations will cover trucks and buses with a capacity of more than twenty-five passengers.

The General Directorate of Traffic has announced many rules and regulations for the smooth traffic movement in the city. These regulations will cover trucks and buses with a capacity of more than twenty-five passengers.

As per the available information, buses and trucks with a capacity of more than 25 people have been banned from entering the city without an entry permit. Moreover, any violation in this regard will attract a huge penalty.

This ban will come into force from February 22 at all times, especially in the peak hours of traffic. Authorities requested the general public to comply with these regulations. The Ministry of Interior also posted on the social media  a map, which depicted the areas with prohibitions.

This map clearly shows areas with prohibition. As per social media updates, article (49) of the traffic law empowers the authorities to ban or restrict the use of any road or any part of any particular road. This article also confers powers on the authorities to exclude any particular category of vehicles from entry into restricted areas.

It is to be specifically mentioned that as per law, no person may drive or allow any vehicle to be driven on the banned roads without the written permission of the licencing authorities.
It is worth mentioning that interested people can easily obtain the necessary permission by  visit online. The website of the Ministry of Interior and Metrash application are providing the facility to gain traffic permits from the concerned authorities.

There are number of documents that need to be produced for obtaining permission. This includes a letter from the project management with the specifications and requirements of the type of permit. Document a record of the work contract with a government body.
