He often called for joint action by all the stakeholders to address the problem and protect the Caribbean region against these growing threats.

This summit is a platform where detailed discussions are held by environmentalists, policymakers, government representatives, and industry professionals. PM Drew took to social media to share the development.

In a Facebook post, the PM stated, “This morning, I addressed the Global Sustainable Island Summit in Prince Edward Island of Canada. The summit aimed to boost sustainable development on islands across the globe.”

“I shared our government vision to transform St. Kitts and Nevis Into a Sustainable development Island by the year 2040,” added PM Drew. According to PM Drew’s address, “No island can protect itself against the burning heat coupled with economic loss, disappearance of cultural heritage, damages to beaches, etc.”

At the same time, the PM reiterated his government’s commitment to dedicated global joint efforts to mitigate the negative effects of climate change. Meanwhile PM Drew also met Dennis King, the Premier of Prince Edward Island, on the sidelines of the summit. Similarly, PM Drew met with James Ellsmoor, CEO of Island Innovation and host of this summit.
