DUBAI — Dubai Police have arrested a gang of four Ethiopian nationals involved in a daring heist that targeted a company in the Naif area, resulting in the theft of Dh3 million.

The suspects, who broke into a safe and removed the office’s security camera drive before fleeing, were apprehended following an intensive investigation led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Authorities reported that the burglary took place over a weekend in February of this year. Security footage revealed masked men breaking into the office at around 4AM and making off with the substantial sum.

The crime was discovered the following Monday morning when an Asian employee arrived to open the office and found the premises in disarray. Upon realising the theft, he immediately alerted the authorities.

Responding swiftly, Dubai Police deployed a specialised team, including CID officers, forensic experts, and duty officers from Naif Police Station.

Using advanced investigative techniques, the team traced the suspects to a residence within the emirate. After securing the necessary legal approvals, officers conducted a raid on the location, leading to the arrest of all four suspects.

During questioning, the gang members confessed to the crime, revealing they had stolen and divided the cash among themselves.

Police managed to recover part of the stolen money; however, the suspects disclosed that a significant portion had been transferred to their home country through illegal money transfer channels.

Authorities are reportedly coordinating efforts to track and recover the remaining funds. In a statement, Dubai Police commended the swift and coordinated efforts of the investigation team.

They also highlighted the importance of maintaining robust security systems in commercial establishments to prevent similar incidents.

“Businesses are urged to enhance their security measures and report any suspicious activities immediately,” the police said, reiterating their commitment to ensuring public safety and swiftly bringing perpetrators to justice.

This arrest underscores the efficiency of Dubai’s law enforcement agencies in tackling organised crime. As investigations continue, authorities have assured the public that further measures will be taken to combat such criminal activities and protect the security of residents and businesses across the emirate.
