Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Abu Dhabi Police organized an awareness exhibition at “Al-Budai Mall, Al-Ain Mall” with the participation of a number of police agencies and strategic partners on August 21, 2023.
The exhibition aimed to raise society from drug abuse spread the message of security and community stability, and strengthen preventive measures in a way that contributes to protecting society from its risks and negative effects and unifying institutions’ efforts in the prevention of the plague.
According to the update shared by the police force, Colonel Tahir Gharib Al-Zahri, Director of the Anti-Drugs Directorate, assured the Abu Dhabi Police is keen to implement campaigns and guidance initiatives aimed at raising awareness of families and their young children about the drug abuse of the communities.
Additionally, it will also work to prevent them from their risks through sound guidance, promoting high values and strengthening the religious dispensation.
He pointed out the importance of joining community efforts to fight and combat drugs as a joint responsibility among various security, social and media institutions, in line with the policy of our wise leadership in employing all abilities and means of awareness to retain youth powers as the hope of the future in society’s progress.
The update suggested that the presenter Dr Salem Obaid Al-Amiri, Director of the Anti-Drug Administration in Al-Ain, praised the educational programs and awareness activities carried out by the administration as a sign of its constant communication with the youth and guiding them to the appropriate therapeutic programs and ways to prevent drugs.
He emphasized the importance of family supervision on children and the role of parents in their care and upbringing, correct upbringing and utilizing their time useful, beneficial and positive communication by talking to them, spending time with them and listening to them, ensuring that they feel confident and responsible towards themselves and their country.
Furthermore, the Anti-Drug Administration in Al-Ain presented an awareness video presentation on the initiative “Opportunity of Hope” via the theatre screens and raising awareness of the youth about the harm of drugs by holding a guided lecture in cooperation with the external medical services-health about the dangers of drugs and its health effects, presented by Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Dahani, Psychiatrist at Neema Clinic alongside Dr Hussein Al-Attia, my consultant Psychological and Mental Illness- Oud Repentance Health Centre.
Psychological counselling and comprehensive medical check-ups were also provided to the visitors of the exhibition in order to protect them from various diseases, and the exhibition provided the opportunity for children to communicate with the sports personality of “Shihab” and express their skills through freestyle drawing aimed at educating them about security issues, identifying their rights, and reinforcing their values and positive behaviours.
In the same context, the management of Al Ain Cultural Sports Club organized an introduction workshop about the private academy and its services to utilize the times of youth effectively, in addition to a guided lecture on the dangers of drugs given by Professor Sarah Al-Shamsi.
The Abu Dhabi Police Music Band participated in the exhibition of a number of heritage plays that attracted the interest of the audience from different nationalities, and the Police Heritage Department explained to the visitors of the exhibition the history of Abu Dhabi Police and old police buildings, and the Al Ain Traffic Department also reviewed the Happiness Patrol equipped with smart equipment and systems, which in turn support the concept of spreading happiness and positivity. Traffic awareness and commitment to making the roads safer, as well as providing motivational contests for the public on stage.
The Public Relations Department of the Al Ain Police Directorate held a lecture on cybersecurity and the warning against fake messages received via social media and asked a variety of questions for the public about the “Hope” Drug Prevention Initiative, along with providing security awareness segments on various seasonal crimes and security phenomena as dangers of online games and public property protection during Travelling, according to the Abu Dhabi Police.
Abu Dhabi Civil Defense strengthened awareness of children and their families on fire prevention safety measures, presented the Junior Fire Patrol and the Junior Ambulance and explained the basics of first aid and ways to prevent injuries, and the public also interacted with the police dog shows presented by the K9 Security Inspection Department and the shares of the volunteer team “We are all police” administering community policing as a role A sportsman in promoting positive communication with the public and distributing gifts.
