The authorities have warned the Pilots of the Australian aircraft company Qantas regarding the communication interference from the frauds who claim to be the GPS jamming from the warships belonging to China.
As per Sky News Australia, Qantas aircraft company issued a note mentioning the warning to its pilots and was advised to be careful about the radio interference which was detected in the South China Sea and Western Pacific.
Despite the warning being issued, the pilots were issued information that there had been no such safety incidents were reported which related to the activities. In addition, the term VHF which stands for ‘very high frequency’, covers a range of radio waves from 30 to 300 megahertz (MHZ).
Furthermore, following the warning were issued, the pilots were also instructed on how to handle such a situation; if there is any activity of this kind taking place, the pilots should continue to track via their assigned clearance and report such interference to the acting controlling ATC authority, the advice said.
Moreover, the advised guidance also read that an Intelex Report must be submitted along with providing details of the circumstances and events regarding any unusual activity after landing. A statement was further released by the International Federation of Air Line Pilots earlier this month that it was made aware that some airlines and military aircraft were being called over by the warships.
Sky News Australia also reported that IFALPA was made fully aware of being called over of some military aircraft at 121.50 or 123.45 by military warships in the Pacific territory, specifically in the region of the South China Sea, the Philippine Sea and the East of the Indian Ocean. To avoid air space over the warships, the flights were also provided vectors, confirmed reports.
There have been assumptions that there may be recorded interferences to GNSS and RADALT as well. to ensure the alignment of all the parties with the procedures, IFALPA is actively engaging with IATA along with Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), which would prevent this from occurring in the future as well.
