Bahrain participates in UNSC debate on Middle East situation

Jamal Fais Al Rowaie, the permanent representative of Bahrain to the UN, participated in the High-level debate of the United Nations Security Council. The discussion was held to discuss the situation in the Middle East, including the issue of Palestine.

This high-level and open debate of the UNSC was chaired by Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil. The representative of Bahrain, while speaking, reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire. He also stressed to end of the military operation in the Gaza Strip along with the protection of civilians from attacks on both sides.

Al Rowaie demanded the release of the hostages and also raised the demand to provide safe passage and an uninterrupted supply of medical aid, food, water, fuel, and electricity to the people of the Gaza Strip.

Bahrain’s representative also affirmed that the government of Bahrain is committed to pushing forward the agenda of a permanent and peaceful solution to the Israel-Hamas conflict. He also praised the statement of the UNO secretary-general for an immediate ceasefire to end the humanitarian crisis.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the UNO chief had demanded the unhindered delivery of relief aid to unarmed civilians trapped in the Gaza Strip. He also insisted that Israel to comply with the provision of International Humanitarian law.

Jamal Faris Al Rowaie calls to exercise restraint to stop the further escalation of the conflict in another part of the region.
He also emphasised that Bahrain firmly support the Palestinian people’s freedom and their right to self-determination to establish an independent, sovereign state based on the two-state formula.
Bahrain representative Jamal Faris Al Rowaie also urged the United Nations Security Council the fulfil its responsibility for implementing the international resolutions. He condemned the displacement order of the Israeli defence forces.
He also said that the resumption of the peace talks is the best and most reliable option to achieve a just and comprehensive peace. The peaceful solution will ensure the rights of the people for security, stability, prosperity and human dignity.
