Dominica: PM Skerrit congratulates cricketer Kavem Hodge  for maiden century

Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica congratulated West Indies Cricketer Kavem Hodge. Kavem Hodge became the first West Indies cricketer to score a century against England in a second test.

It has been more than six years since any West Indies cricketer scored against the England after 2017. Kevam Hodge also became the first West Indies cricketer to make this history in England. The five-day test series is underway in Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England. It is to be added that with this win  Hodge became the first batsman from the Caribbean region to win a test match against England since 2017.

 

PM Skerrit  on his official Facebook page  stated, “The citizens of the country are feeling proud as Kevin Hodge gained success in the second test match with his maiden century against England.”

 

PM further added, “The performance of the Hodge is an example of dedication and determination to overcome obstacles. I, on behalf of all the citizens of the country  would like to extend my best wishes to him for a bright future.”

PM Skerrit also extends his best wishes to another West Indies Cricketer  Alick Athanzea. In a second test match  Alick Athanzea also made his maiden half-century against England. Both players from Dominica played well. However  Hodge’s partner, Alick Athanzea, could not complete his century. He was out at a personal score of 82.

 

On the other hand while speaking about his success  Hodge noted that “it is always a wonderful experience when a dream comes true. It always matters greatly when you want to achieve something high  and century against English is one of the highest thing.”

The match provided a captivating experience for the audience. The encounter between Hodge and Mark Wood of England was the awe-inspiring moment of the match. The ball  once hit Alick Athanzea’s helmet  and everyone was shocked to see this incident.

 

Meanwhile  the social media user   reacted to the Prime Minister’s Facebook post and extended the best wishes to both the sports gems of the country.   The user Martha Maynard commented, “WOW!!!! So Amazing!!! Congratulations on your brilliant maiden century and Athanaze’s excellent knock of 82!!!! Dominica is proud of both of you!!!! Keep on shining!!!”
