A new website, ‘Dubai EV Community Hub’, has been launched by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) which strives to grow electric vehicle (EV) adoption through centralising information about EV developments in Dubai.Â
This is a part of the efforts of DEWA to promote the use of sustainable transport and maintain Dubai’s position as a global capital for sustainable development and a green economy.Â
The website “www.dubaievhub.ae” of EV Community Hub covers the recent government strategies, incentives, targets and relevant regulations for EVs. It further provides information regarding the latest EV models in the UAE, charging station standards, locations and installations and available insurance plans and green auto loans for buying EVs.Â
MD & CEO of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said, “At Dewa, we support Dubai’s actions to decrease emissions of the transport sector via the use of green mobility solutions, particularly since Dubai is a global logistics hub for transport. With an increase in the use of electric vehicles in Dubai, the air quality will improve, and there will be a reduction in tailpipe emissions, noise pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.”
He further stated, “As a member of the Dubai Green Mobility Committee and the only electricity provider in Dubai, DEWA operates closely with government organisations and private stakeholders to support EV adoption within Dubai. It also improves pioneering government partnerships that use digital integration, in addition to supplying innovative and environmentally friendly solutions to decrease emissions in the transport sector as part of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030.”
“This is in accord with the idea of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, to transform Dubai into the happiest and smartest city in the world.”
The Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, Eng. Waleed Bin Salman said, “The EV Community hub website consolidates information regarding EVs in Dubai. This preserves time for those who are curious about eco-friendly vehicles and can support their decision-making process. It showcases the advantages of EVs as well as the incentives from entities to promote their purchase or lease.”
DEWA helps in providing strong charging infrastructure for EVs all over Dubai with almost 325 charging stations. These are accessible to consumers registered for the EV Green Charger service and non-registered consumers who can utilise the guest mode trait at the charging station.Â
Those EVs that are registered in Dubai, DEWA makes an EV account once the customer registers their vehicle with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). They can use DEWA’s charging stations within an hour of registration of a vehicle or by making an EV account.Â
Meanwhile, consumers can also make an EV account through DEWA’s website, smart app or IVR at DEWA Customer Care Centres.
