Egypt: On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) has organized the Egyptian Al-Nesih Hall, a temporary exhibition titled “Road to Mecca, the supervised transfer of the Kaaba cladding from Cairo to Mecca.” The exhibition is set to be featured in the museum during the period from June 26 this year until July 7.
On his part, Dr Maysra Abdullah, Executive Vice President of the Museum of Archaeological Affairs Board, clarified that the exhibition features a rare collection of the museum’s collectables, including the revered Kaaba belt and parts of the noble cladding.Â
The exhibition also includes a flashlight loaded from the era of Khadyo Ismail, written by alligator Abdullah Zahda, the alligator of the Two Holy Mosques.
In addition to a number of rare photographs of the journey of Al-Mahmal Al-Sharif from Cairo to Mecca and the pilgrims’ pilgrimage, taken by Mohamed Afandi Saudi, on the assignment of Imam Muhammad Abdo Mufti of the Egyptian House in 1904, which is a complete documentation of the journey and the phenomena of life at that time.
Furthermore, Professor Izza Rezaq, the director of the museum’s education and the museum’s educational department, said that the department’s activities on the occasion of the Month of Hajj also included holding a group of artistic and educational workshops.
The workshops aimed at hosting s and talking with adults and children under the theme of “The Pilgrimage” to learn about the story of the construction of the Kaaba and the works and rituals Muslims perform during the Hajj period. Moreover, the workshops also featured the history of the labour industry in Egypt and how to celebrate the labour parade.
The most important forms of material and non-made heritage related to Hajj in Egypt, including Hajj graffiti and Hajj heritage songs presented by Professor Asmaa, were also presented.
The arts of Hajj were also celebrated with the adults, in which Professor Heba Abdul Qadir, the first art specialist in the Museum of Cerma Arts, presented the story of manufacturing the Kaaba cladding.
