Egypt, Middle East: The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt and Chairman of the Egyptian National Committee of UNESCO, Ayman Ashour, has stated that the UNESCO Club has joined the University of Damietta to the international list of UNESCO Clubs.

On his part, Minister Ashour emphasized the importance of the committee’s role in supporting personnel and expertise in various fields, particularly those that contribute to solving societal problems and achieving the country’s sustainable development goals (Egypt Vision 2030).

In his remarks, he received the President of the University of Damietta, Mohamed Dadour, a report from Professor Al-Absi, the Assistant General of the National Committee of UNESCO, benefits the addition of the UNESCO Club of Damietta to the global list of UNESCO Clubs.

The Egyptian National Committee of UNESCO has taken several steps; to establish clubs within Egyptian universities based on Egypt’s participation in the activities of the virtual meeting of UNESCO National Committees held under the theme (Cooperation with associations, UNESCO Clubs and Contribution Program). 

The virtual meeting was held in the presence of 124 UNESCO member states in this meeting, among them Egypt, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, Romania and Jamaica, said reports.

The report clarified that the Supreme Council of Universities had been approved to set up UNESCO clubs in various Egyptian universities, in addition to the activities done by UNESCO clubs, such as: celebrating (World Radio Day and simulation model). 

Furthermore, the establishment of UNESCO clubs is a supplement to the role of educational institutions, and preparing sustainable youth student leaders responsibility with meeting the requirements of the labour market, noted updates.

On his part, the university’s President congratulated all members of the UNESCO Club at the University of Damietta and thanked Ahmed Al-Zaky, Head of the Department of Education and Coordinator of the UNESCO Club at the university.

In the end, it was noted that the outstanding activities plan implemented since the club joined the local list of UNESCO under the supervision of Dr Wael Taybani, Vice President of the University for Education and Students Affairs.
