Egyptian Man Seeks Dh1 Million Compensation After Sharjah Car Crash Leaves Him Permanently Disabled

According to traffic authorities and eyewitness accounts, the accident was triggered when the defendant, driving recklessly, veered from the extreme right lane to the left without due attention, colliding with a vehicle in the adjacent lane

Sharjah, UAE – An Egyptian man has filed a Dh1 million compensation claim against an Emirati female driver after a severe car accident resulted in a permanent disability.

The civil lawsuit, lodged in the Sharjah Civil Court, seeks redress for the man’s extensive medical, physical, financial, and mental damages.

The incident, which occurred on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, involved a five-car pile-up.

According to traffic authorities and eyewitness accounts, the accident was triggered when the defendant, driving recklessly, veered from the extreme right lane to the left without due attention, colliding with a vehicle in the adjacent lane.

The impact of this initial collision caused a chain reaction, leading to the involvement of four additional vehicles. The Egyptian plaintiff was in the third car affected by the crash.

The Sharjah Traffic Court has already found the Emirati woman guilty of reckless and inattentive driving. She pleaded guilty and was fined Dh1,000.

The court also referred the associated civil lawsuit to the appropriate judicial authority for further proceedings.

The victim, a manager by profession, suffered severe injuries, particularly to his left shoulder, which have significantly impacted his life and work. His lawyer, Hani Hammouda Hagag, detailed the extent of his client’s injuries in the lawsuit.

The plaintiff was diagnosed with a “closed dislocation of the left acromioclavicular joint,” necessitating surgery shortly after the accident. Medical reports submitted to the court confirmed that the surgery involved the fixation of plates and screws to stabilize the shoulder.

“Due to the injury, my client cannot work properly with his left shoulder. He has paid hefty medical bills and suffered mentally and physically,” said lawyer Hagag.

“The claimant deservesbased on Article 292 of the Civil Transactions Law, compensation for his financial, medical, mental, and moral damages.”

The aftermath of the accident has left the Egyptian manager with chronic pain and restricted movement in his left shoulder.

He can no longer carry weight or move his shoulder as before, significantly hindering his ability to perform his managerial duties.

The lawsuit emphasizes the profound impact on his professional and personal life, arguing that the Dh1 million compensation is justified given the extent of his suffering and the ongoing consequences of the injury.

In addition to the physical and financial burdens, the plaintiff has endured considerable mental distress.

The trauma of the accident and the subsequent disability have affected his overall quality of life, further substantiating the need for substantial compensation.

This case underscores the serious consequences of reckless driving and the legal recourses available to victims of such incidents.

It also highlights the importance of adhering to traffic laws to prevent accidents and ensure road safety. The Sharjah Civil Court will now deliberate on the compensation claim, considering the detailed submissions and medical evidence provided by the plaintiff’s legal team.

The outcome of this case will be closely watched, as it may set a precedent for similar compensation claims arising from traffic accidents in the UAE.
