Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – Emirati farmer Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei has turned his decade-long passion for flowers into a thriving floral haven, boasting over 50,000 blooms on his farm in the Aisima area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The farm, which opened to the public in 2020, features more than 25 imported flower varieties and has quickly gained recognition for its stunning displays.

Al Mazrouei’s journey began over ten years ago, inspired by a childhood dream of owning a flower farm. His fascination with floriculture led him to research various international farms and collect seeds during a trip to Europe.

Over the years, he imported flower seeds from countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Italy, overcoming initial skepticism about growing such flowers in the UAE’s arid climate.

Today, his farm showcases a vibrant mix of Snapdragon, Salvia, Stock, Mexican sunflower, and more. This season, Al Mazrouei has introduced new flower varieties from Switzerland, hoping they will flourish in the UAE’s unique environment.

One of his proudest accomplishments is the successful cultivation of lavender, which has withstood the region’s intense summer heat and entered its second blooming season.

Beyond creating a floral paradise, Al Mazrouei has ambitious plans to expand his enterprise. He aims to locally produce lavender oil, a highly sought-after product used in perfumes, soaps, lotions, and cosmetics.

The farm also serves as an educational and recreational destination, welcoming visitors daily from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, except on Fridays when it opens after Friday prayers.

Admission costs Dh15 per person, while children under three and individuals with disabilities can enter for free. School students are also granted free admission.

In addition to flowers, Al Mazrouei has a background in agricultural nurseries, having produced seedlings for other farms and cultivated vegetables for years.

His passion for farming was instilled by his father, and while his focus has shifted primarily to flowers, he is set to expand his agricultural ventures to Bosnia, where he plans to grow 10,000 lavender plants under the UAE’s name in Europe.

The success of the farm is largely due to meticulous planning, particularly in determining optimal planting times for each flower variety. Some flowers take two months to bloom, while others require less time.

By carefully managing planting schedules, Al Mazrouei ensures that all flowers blossom simultaneously, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

Visitors from across the region have been captivated by the farm’s beauty, often returning multiple times throughout the year.

Many describe the experience as stepping into a different world, with tranquil floral landscapes providing a serene retreat for families and children. The farm also features horse rides for kids, exotic bird species, peacocks, and a cosy café.

During the summer months, the farm temporarily closes to allow for soil preparation, including fertilization and irrigation, before planting resumes in October.

Al Mazrouei’s achievements have earned him recognition from Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and support from local government authorities, who have facilitated his agricultural initiatives by issuing permits free of charge.

With his determination and vision, Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei continues to redefine floriculture in the UAE, transforming his lifelong dream into a flourishing reality while setting his sights on international expansion.
