The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued red and yellow weather alerts for Saturday, warning residents about potential fog formation across several parts of the country.
The advisory urges caution, particularly for motorists, as visibility could significantly decrease in the affected areas. These alerts come as part of the NCM’s continuous monitoring of weather conditions in the UAE.
The fog is expected to form in areas marked on a map released by the NCM, which can be found on their official X account. The agency advised the public to stay informed and follow updates, emphasizing the potential risks to road safety.
Abu Dhabi Police also joined the cautionary message, urging drivers to exercise caution when on the roads. They specifically recommended adhering to reduced speed limits displayed on electronic boards to prevent accidents and ensure safety in low-visibility conditions.
In addition to the fog warning, the UAE will experience varied weather conditions over the weekend. While skies are generally expected to be fair to partly cloudy, mist formation is possible in some inland areas, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.
Winds will remain light to moderate throughout the day, with occasional fresh gusts, especially along coastal areas and at sea.
Temperatures are expected to be mild, with internal areas reaching highs of 30°C and cooler mountain regions dropping to lows of 10°C. Coastal cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai will see maximum temperatures of 29°C and 28°C, respectively.
The humidity levels will vary widely across the country, ranging from 15% in the mountainous regions to a high of 90% in the coastal areas and islands. This humidity could contribute to an increase in discomfort during the night and early morning.
The weather in the Arabian Gulf will be slightly moderate, while the Oman Sea will remain calm, with slight conditions expected. These conditions are likely to influence outdoor activities and maritime operations in the region.
The NCM’s alerts also underscore the importance of being aware of weather changes, particularly for those planning to engage in outdoor or marine activities.
With the holiday season still in full swing, authorities are keen to ensure the public remains safe during the foggy conditions that could impair visibility on roadways, posing hazards for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
As the UAE continues to experience cooler temperatures, residents are advised to monitor weather updates and adjust their plans accordingly, particularly when traveling across the country during the fog-prone hours.
The NCM will continue to track weather developments, providing updates through their platforms and working closely with other government entities, including the police, to ensure public safety.
