As per the reports, Thamarassery Deputy Police Superintendent of Police TK Ashraf, who is in charge of this case, has got permission from the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to perform an exhumation.

This came after her family members said that no post-mortem examination was done in Dubai and sought it to be performed, alleging that she was a victim of domestic violence.

As per the complaint of her family, the Kakkur police filed a case under 306 (Abetment of suicide) and Sections 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

TNMRifa Mehnu was a star on social media, with millions of followers on Instagram and used to post videos frequently. Both she as well as her husband appeared regularly on the social media platform Instagram. In her last video on Instagram, the team is seen going to a restaurant in Dubai and tasting Kozhikode food. That video was posted on February 28, hardly a day before she died.

Her husband discovered her body in the early hours of March 1 and thought it was a case of suicide. But Rifa’s parents got suspicious of the circumstances revolving around her death and wanted more investigation. As per reports, Rifa had been working in Dubai, and Mehnu, whose visa was about to expire, urged that she go back to Kerala with him.
