Kabul, Afghanistan: The management authorities at the government hospital in Kabul have stated that they have been facing serious problems, such as a shortage of medical equipment, specialist doctors, medical staff etc. The staff has that the hospital is running low on medical supplies and life-saving equipment essential to treat the patients.

As per the Pakistan-based TOLO News, Mohammad Iqbal Sediqi – The Deputy Head of the Children’s Health Hospital, has issued a statement in which he mentioned that the hospital is in urgent need of machinery to examine the patients with accuracy, which is not available at the time such as MRI. The service is not available in the hospital, he said.

The medical doctor in the emergency section of the hospital has pointed out that the emergency department has only left with ten beds with very fewer medical supplies and facilities, which causes them to receive a lack of emergency services.

Furthermore, another doctor at the government hospital, Abdul Khaliq Elyas, have outlined that patients are not receiving basic emergency services and treatment due to the shortage of essential supplies and doctors. They came in with the emergency, but due to a lack of beds, the staff was not able to help all the patients.

As per TOLO News, a two-year-old patient named Shegufe has been suffering from a serious disease, measles and is currently hospitalized in the emergency unit of the government hospital. 

The doctor of Shegufe, Dawlat Hussain Afzali, noted that the patients had been admitted to the emergency unit for five days now, and we will transfer the patients to another unit once the condition gets better.

Under the caretaker regime of the Taliban, the Ministry of Public Health stated that hospital authorities have been putting efforts into enhancing human and technical capacities in the hospital. 

The Ministry of Public has also brought in essential machinery for electroscope surgery which was not available before.
