Pakistan’s pursuit for ”Strategic Depth” in Afghanistan converts into ”Strategic Death” :REPORTS

Pakistan: In the recent update shared by the Policy Research Group called Poreg, in between the attacks banned by the outfit (TTP) Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the quest started by Pakistan to secure the concept of ‘’strategic depth’’ by setting up ‘friendly’ government in Kabul, Afghanistan which has resulted in being called ‘strategic death,’’ by the security analyses of Poreg.

As per sources, there have been deep historical relationship ties between TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) and Afghan Taliban, along with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP).

In addition, Pakistan has played a role in nurturing the TTP with the motive of using it as a substitute force to add interest strategically for the Pakistan Army in the countries such as Afghanistan and India, which is now getting back at them as the group banned is putting a hand in the rising insurgency in the nation.

Furthermore, a columnist from the Friday Times, Shemrez Afzal, said, ‘’The fact of how India would be able to support TTP at the same time when the Afghan Taliban has been deemed as the Strategic assets of Pakistan for decades is highly questionable’’.

On his part, columnist Afzal added that the security concern of the country is challenged and disputed by the revival of the TTP, while the so-called traditionalists blame India but not Afghan Taliban; he further wrote that ‘’How Strategic Depth of Pakistan got unravelled by the Taliban in 2022’’.

Moreover, Former Prime Minister Imran Khan was blamed by Friday Times journalist Umer Farooq, and now the new government of Shahbaz Sharif is directly in touch with the TTP and providing all the important channels of Kabul very easily. Said reports.

In his report, Umer Farooq further conveyed that the TTP is close to the regime followed by Kabul and fears that if the evacuation or surrender is forced on the Pakistani authorities, there is a high chance of the TTP fighters uniting with ISKP along with different foreign groups.

The reports have also confirmed that being in touch with the TTP might look like the perfect ending. Still, the reality is different, as there is no guarantee of change in military actions.

And above all, Kabul has been resistant and prohibited any military operations by Islamabad to secure the TTP fighters. The deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Taliban, Ahmed Yasir, has mocked Pakistan by reminding them with a recall of the surrender of the Pakistan Army to India in 1971.

In the end, the experts in the field of security have foreseen long military operations and diplomatic spats. The earlier votaries of the strategic depth concept concede that now in power, the Afghan Taliban will remain unhelpful towards the TTP, as they declined to hand over Osama to the US. As per the report of (ANI).
