Two hikers, a man and a woman, were rescued from a perilous situation on the mountain peaks of Ras Al Khaimah, after becoming exhausted during their trek to the summit.

The rescue mission, which took place at an altitude of 3,000 feet, was carried out by the Ras Al Khaimah Police air wing, with support from the local search and rescue department.

The incident was first reported to the operations room, where authorities quickly acted to ensure the hikers’ safety.

According to the Ras Al Khaimah Police, the operations room received a distress call about two tourists who had become stranded at the peak of a mountain in the emirate.

A helicopter from the police air wing was immediately dispatched to locate and assist the individuals.

Upon reaching the hikers, the rescue team provided necessary aid before safely evacuating them in good health.

The rescue operation was carried out with speed and efficiency, ensuring that the hikers were returned to safety without injury.

In the wake of this rescue, Ras Al Khaimah Police have issued a warning to climbers and hiking enthusiasts.

They advised individuals to exercise extreme caution when trekking through the rugged terrain of the emirate’s mountains and valleys.

Authorities particularly cautioned hikers against venturing into high-altitude areas that could increase their risk of accidents, making rescue efforts more difficult.

This warning follows a tragic incident earlier this year. A 32-year-old Indian expatriate from Kerala, identified as SM, lost his life after falling from a great height while hiking on Jebel Jais Mountain during the long National Day weekend.

SM had been camping with friends when the fatal accident occurred. The incident has heightened concerns among authorities about the dangers of hiking in the region, particularly for those unfamiliar with the challenging terrain.

In addition to mountain rescue operations, UAE authorities continue to perform life-saving missions at sea.

On Sunday, the National Search and Rescue Centre of the UAE National Guard successfully carried out a medical evacuation of two individuals aboard a cargo ship.

The ship was located 6.5 nautical miles off Al Hamriyah Port in Sharjah when the medical emergency was reported.

This operation follows a similar mission conducted last month, when a person aboard a fishing vessel 10 nautical miles off Zirku Island in Abu Dhabi required urgent medical attention.

In both cases, the National Guard responded swiftly to ensure the safety and well-being of those in need.

These incidents underscore the UAE’s commitment to public safety and the importance of preparedness in case of emergencies.

With a growing number of tourists and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the country’s mountains and seas, the need for awareness and caution is critical to prevent accidents and ensure swift rescues when necessary.

As rescue teams continue their vital work, the authorities in Ras Al Khaimah and beyond are urging outdoor adventurers to prioritize safety and avoid putting themselves in dangerous situations that could jeopardize both their lives and the resources required for their rescue.
