Saint Lucia Sports Ministry organise 3-Km road race

On December 5, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia organised a 3-kilometer road race. This race was mainly for the primary school athletes.

The participants of the race event include 350 boys and girls. These players participated in the Under 11 and Under 13 categories.

The participating runners followed a route around the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and WASCO Treatment Plant. The ending point of the race was Saint Lucia Sports Academy.In the Under 13 category, Keddani Plante and Aniyah George won the race, respectively.

On the other hand, Kem Deterville and Hadassah Jules emerged as the winners in the Under 11 boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.

Littiel Pupils participating in the competition wore colourful sports apparel. Some were dressed in orange tracksuits, whereas some had light yellow, blue and another colour of their sports dress.

All the players of different categories seemed happy being participants of the event. They also posed for the photos after winning the title in their respective categories during prize distribution ceremony.

Smiling children were looking very cute with their trophies. Along with Trophies, winners were also honoured with medals.

The runner showed great sports skills. They run with full vigour and spirit. During the long-distance race, runners were provided with water bottles to keep them fresh.

Some children were standing alongside the road to appreciate the participating runners. They were clapping and shouting to motivate the runner to complete the target.

All along the distance, full security arrangements were in effect by enforcement agencies. police officer, along with their vehicle, were monitoring the situation to prevent any unwanted incident.

Winners were awarded by the chief guest of the event. Social media users also appreciated the winner of the competition. District Four Education Office commented on social media “Excellent performance, keddani! You made the District Four very Proudfull!”. Similarly, another user, Marie George-Arlain, Commented that “Excellent District Four” and Also wrote “, Well Done”.

As per the available information, the Intra-Secondary Road Race, marking the end of the 2023 sports season, will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
